The history of the human race has been one of sorrow, suffering and death. Ever since Adam and Eve disobeyed God bringing sin into the world, these three things have haunted the human race. Individuals, societies, organizations and groups make great efforts to ease the pain of death. We’ve even changed the vocabulary in our attempt to ease the reality of death; once we had a “funeral; parlor”, today we have beautiful “mortuaries”; once we had the “undertaker”, today we have a “mortician”; once we had a “coffin” today we have beautiful, expensive “caskets”; once we had “graveyards” today we have manicured “cemeteries”. But the fact still remains, sorrow, suffering and death is real and painful. But there is hope! Over 2,000 years ago Christ died on the cross and arose again to change this all. Paul said, “Death is swallowed up in victory” (I Cor. 15:54). “But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ”. Vs. 57
